Parent Code of Conduct
- I will do my best to get my player to practices, games, and other team events. If I cannot get player to an event or at the time designated, I will notify a coach immediately.
- I will bring my player to practice prepared with the required gear for the age level. If I am missing anything or am in need of support in obtaining any required equipment, I will contact the coach and/or an LYS Board member.
- I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
- I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators at all LYS and LUHS sporting events.
- I (and my guests) will not engage in any type of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player or parent such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.
- I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility, poor sportsmanship, or violence.
- I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so my child will not feel defeated by the outcome of a game or their performance.
- I will be respectful to all other parents and coaches. I will not argue with or yell at any other parent or coach. I will contact a LYS board member if I have an issue with a parent or a coach - in most instances, we encourage communication with the coach first and the board only after and in the event that discussions with the coach did not resolve the issue.
- I will respect the officials and their authority during the games and will not berate or confront officials at a game field.
- If I would like to discuss a coaching decision (such as play time or position), or I am upset for any reason during a game, I will wait 24 hours before approaching a coach to discuss any issues.
- All players take directions from coaches during the games. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team. I understand I may be asked to leave if I am disrupting pitchers, catchers, and or any other player during a game.
- I understand that if a coach or official asks me to leave a game, for any reason, I will leave in a respectful manner.
